About time?
Yes, yes, I get it. I’m finally doing something with this website. To be honest with you, like many other folk out there, I had begun to think websites were a thing of the past. Social media has evolved to be the information consumption arena and I’ve been sucked in too.
However, with the main social media companies essentially really messing things up—in one way or many others—I wonder if websites, blogs, journals and the like may make a comeback. Perhaps I may finally be ahead of the curve.
I doubt it.

About me?
My name is Rich. I am also known by many as Dickie or Greychops, depending on where I am and when.
I have been taking photographs since I was a youngster back in the heady days of the late 1980s. It has always been a hobby but the advent of the internet granted me the means to share some of my images with a wider audience. The trick now is convincing that audience to pay me a visit here. I’ll work on that.
I have no pretence to being a professional photographer in the future. I don’t like taking photographs of people at all, so the likes of portrait or wedding work would be out of the question. The best I can ever hope for, financially, is the occasional sale of a print or t-shirt design on my Ko-fi shop.
At best, I am an enthusiastic hobbyist. I love experimenting with old cameras, expired films, new (to me) developers and so on. Photography, for me, is a lot of fun and I kinda don’t want to ruin it with the added stress of trying to live off my work. It’s one of the reasons I don’t post often on Instagram.

Away from photography, I dabble in livestreaming on Twitch (gaming, DJ-ing and photography streams). The photo above was part of a promotional thing for a twenty-four hour event I did in December 2023, raising money for the mental health text support service Shout. That was a fun thing to do and I hope to attempt something equally mad in the near future.
